Your Excel, without the grunt work.
Claude Code for Excel is a guided service where an AI assistant does real Excel work in front of you. Unlike a chat that only answers, the tool opens the file on your own computer, reads it, and works on a copy from start to finish. You explain what you need, approve each step, and the original stays safe.
You describe in plain words what you need: to merge, to clean, to compare, to build a report. It gets done in front of you, on a copy of your file, and you approve every step.
Most people who work with Excel have never written a line of code in their life, and do not need to be technical at all. With Claude Code, an AI tool that sits on your own computer and works with your files, you explain in plain English what you want to do with the table, and it does it. You see every step, you approve, and there is always a way back.
Know this kind of day? You are not alone. This is what a day looks like for someone who lives in spreadsheets.
Files from every direction.
A file from the branch, a file from the supplier, a file from the old system. Each in a different layout, each with different headers. And you need one tidy table out of them all.
Copy, paste, and again.
Hours of cut and paste between tabs. One hand slips, one row shifts, and the whole report no longer adds up.
Duplicates the eye cannot catch.
The same customer twice, a phone number with an extra space, a name written two different ways. You know they are there, but finding them by hand is a nightmare.
"Quick, pull me that report."
The same report, every week, every month. The exact same steps, over and over, on your time.
A formula no one remembers anymore.
A complicated formula someone wrote once, that breaks the moment you add a column, and no one is quite sure what it actually does.
The fear of touching the real file.
One file that everyone works on, with no proper backup, and always the worry: what if I break something.
I wrote an open letter to everyone who still does it all by hand in spreadsheets, and feels there is no other way. No judgment, no jargon. Just an honest conversation about why it happens, and what can really change.
Read the letter →Three simple steps. You talk, it works, you approve.
There is nothing to learn and nothing to install along the way. You explain in words what you need, the tool does the work on a copy, and you approve every step before it is saved.
You describe it in words
In plain English, the way you would explain it to a colleague. "Merge these files", "clean up duplicates", "build my monthly report".
It works on a copy, in front of you
The tool opens a copy of the file, does the work step by step, and shows you exactly what it is doing. The original is never touched.
You approve, and you check
Before every change it stops and asks for approval. At the end you get a color-coded check report showing what came out, and if something does not add up, you step right back.
"Merge all the branch files into one table for me, by customer number, and flag rows with no phone."
Opens a copy, reads all the files, merges them into one table, marks in red every row with no phone.
See the result and the check report, approve, and save. The original stays safe.
What you can ask it to do All of these happen on a copy of your file. The original stays clean until you are happy.
Files in different layouts, different headers, separate tabs. It all becomes one tidy table, by the rules you set.
It goes over the table and flags what is missing, what does not match, what looks suspicious. You get a check report with colors and a legend, instead of hunting for mistakes by eye.
Extra spaces, the same name in two forms, the same row twice. It tidies and merges, by clear rules you approve up front.
From that one tidy table, export several versions: one for your team, one for a system that imports data, one for the client. Same data, different arrangement, in one click.
The monthly, weekly, or quarterly report. You explain once how it should look, and then you get it ready, over and over, with the exact same steps.
Excel cannot do this on its own, there is no "compare" button. It finds what changed between the old version and the new one, and shows you clearly.
Totals, groupings, sorts, filters. You say what you want to see, it builds the result. No formula to remember, no formula to break by accident.
Once something worked nicely one time, you can save it as a ready tool. Next time you just say "do this again on the new file", and it remembers all the rules.
What a workday looks like, before and after The exact same task. Once on your own, once with an assistant that does the tedious part.
- You open ten tabs, copy and paste row by row.
- You look for duplicates by eye, and miss half of them.
- You rebuild the same report every month, from scratch.
- You are afraid to touch the original file, because there is no backup.
- If a formula breaks, an hour of detective work until you figure out what happened.
- You explain in words what you need, and it merges into one clean table.
- Duplicates are flagged and merged by rules you set.
- The report is built once, then repeats in one click every month.
- Everything runs on a copy, the original stays safe, with a backup before every change.
- At the end you get a color-coded check report showing exactly what came out.
Three days of work that became hours A real project. Details changed to protect privacy.
A client of ours received a huge Excel file that had come in from different sources: each source on its own tab, dozens of tabs. Each tab was built a little differently: sometimes the header had spaces, sometimes not, sometimes the phone column was called "phone" and sometimes "alternate phone", sometimes a phone number was hiding inside a notes column, and sometimes data had been typed into the wrong column by mistake. Out of all that mess, he needed one tidy table, one row per record, ready to be imported into a system.
Doing it by hand is days of work, and even then full of mistakes: a record that gets dropped, a phone that slips through, the same name counted twice.
Instead, we explained the rules in words: one row per record, names sorted and merged without duplicates, phone numbers gathered from the notes columns too, but only if there really was a number there, and if a record had no phone at all, write "phone missing" in red.
The result: one tidy table, and alongside it a check report that color-marks every mismatch between what came out and what was supposed to come out, with a clear legend. And this is the important part: the AI caught exactly the mistakes the eye misses, a field that had been typed into the wrong column by mistake, a hidden duplicate, a missing value. Wherever there was a gap, we saw why right away, and nothing disappeared quietly.
What would have taken days, got done in hours. And without touching the original file, which stayed safe the whole way through.
Wherever there was a real difference between the files, the tool pointed to it precisely, so a person could decide what is right. You always stay the owner.
Who is this for?
A finance person, an operations manager, an accountant, a small business owner, anyone whose main work tool is Excel.
- You install it yourself in minutes.
- You sit down for a guided session, and together do real work on a real file of yours.
- You come out with your file sorted, and with the ability to do it again on your own.
Finance, operations, data, collections, HR. A team where everyone is drowning in the same spreadsheets.
- IT installs it once for all workstations, with a recommended permissions file that makes sure nothing runs without approval.
- Group sessions around a real process your team actually does.
- You turn the monthly report or the data merge into something fast and repeatable.
How to start Two tracks: one for an individual, one for an organization.
settings.json) that Noam provides. It pre-approves only the safe actions, so the team works smoothly, and sensitive actions still stop and ask for approval.

Your file is safe. Always.
The tool runs on your machine and works on a copy, but to do the work, the content it reads is sent to the AI (Anthropic) for processing, just like any cloud service. In other words, whatever it sees leaves your machine, so sensitive data is anonymized in advance (names and identifying numbers are replaced with neutral placeholders), and you decide what goes in.
Before every step that changes something, the tool stops and asks. You approve, or you stop.
Your real file stays clean. If something does not come out the way you wanted, the original is not harmed.
A backup is saved before a change. A mistake? You step one back.
The information the tool reads is sent to the AI for processing, exactly like any cloud service, so the decision about what is sensitive enough to hide or anonymize is yours, following your organization's policy and privacy laws. Truly sensitive information that does not have to be there, passwords, credit card details, ID numbers, payroll data, should be taken out in advance. Bank data or a government information system are a different story that calls for extra care. We guide you on how to do it right during the session.
For managers: why it is worth it
Most management teams do not see it. The team burns hours every week on manual Excel work that shows up in no report: merging tables, cleaning, re-typing, assembling reports. That is expensive time that vanishes quietly, and because of it there is pressure to hire more and more people instead of making the people you already have several times faster. You are not buying two hours of someone's time, you are buying that time back. Here is the math.
An employee who wastes a day or two a month on merging, cleaning and preparing reports frees those hours for the work that really needs them.
The session is recorded and stays with you. The whole team learns from it, and so does every future employee, without paying again. The cost per person keeps dropping over time.
Manual spreadsheet work is a source of costly mistakes in reports that decisions are made on. A process that checks and validates itself brings that risk down.
"Pull me that report" goes from days to hours. Decisions get made faster, and deadlines stop being a nightmare.
When the load grows, the old way calls for another hire and another salary. Instead, the same people who already know your data deliver several times more. One session can swallow work worth a full position, with no developer and no expensive software project.
It runs on your machines, on a copy, and everything is reversible. IT controls the permissions, the installer is code-signed, and you decide what data the tool sees.
Say one employee, two days a month on manual Excel work. A single half-day, $1,600, including a recording for the whole team, pays for itself within weeks, and keeps saving time every month after. Split across a team of eight, that is $200 per person, for a capability that stays yours forever.
Pricing A clear price up front. One track for an individual, one for a company.
Not sure? Start with one session on a real file of yours, and see it work. A small step, no commitment.
For your own personal use, a one-on-one session on your own work.
Any number of employees, including a recording of the session for internal use in the company, so new employees learn from it too.
An on-site session at your place is half-day only. 2 hours are available over Zoom. Half day is available over Zoom or on-site, at the same price.
Why the company price is different: you are not buying two hours, you are getting an asset. The whole team learns, and you keep the recording and train every future employee with it. A half day split across a team of eight comes to $200 per person, for a capability that saves each of them days every month. It pays for itself within weeks.
The individual price is for personal use only. Business use, team training, or distribution inside a company require the company track.
You also need your own Claude Pro or Max subscription, from $20 a month.
